How Coffee Affects Your Health

Coffee. A lot of people around the world drink it every single day. It is consumed by people of many ages. This black nectar of the gods is consumed at an incredible rate, most of us drink at least a few cups per day.

Since so many people drink so much coffee, one has to wonder, how does it affect our health? A recent medical study from the Harvard School of Public Health, we have news that will make you smile just as much as that black coffee you're drinking did.

  • Six cups of coffee will not increase your risk of death from any particular cause. The medical study from the Harvard School of Public Health dispelled rumors saying six cups of coffee per day increased risk of heart diseases, among others.
  • If you have trouble regulating your BP or blood sugar levels, then the study suggests consuming a small amount of coffee or switching to decaf coffee K-Cups
  • Pregnant women should avoid coffee during the duration of their pregnancy; even decaf coffee should try to be avoided as it does contain a small amount of caffeine.
  • Coffee that is brewed with a paper filter, whether the coffee is fresh bagged coffee or K-Cup coffee, will remove a substance in the coffee that has been linked to increased levels LDL cholesterol.
The study from the Harvard School of Public Health conducted a study with 130,000 people. The study followed 40-50 year olds for 20 years. The study found that people who consumed six cups of coffee per day were at no more of a risk of death from any diseases than non-coffee drinkers. This shows that coffee is not a risk to your health, unless there are extenuating circumstances, such as an allergy to caffeine.

Can you drink too much coffee? Yes, that amount varies from person to person. If you experience tremors, trouble sleeping, feeling stress or anxiety, agitation, etc. then you have likely had too much coffee. Always exercise moderation.

3 Cups of Coffee a Day Keeps the Heart Attacks Away

Consuming three to five cups of coffee each day can help keep your risk of heart attack or clogged arteries in check. A recent health study analyzed the connection between levels of coffee consumption and coronary artery calcium, which is an indicator of heart disease (which is the clogging of arteries).

The study was done in South Korea, using 25k men and women with no signs of heart disease and an average age of 41. The researchers found that the people who consumed more coffee had lower levels of calcium.

One cup of coffee meant having an average calcium ratio of 0.77, up to three cups meant 0.66, up to five cups meant 0.59. After that, more than five cups, calcium ratios began to increase. So cap it at five cups, everyone.

The true component in coffee that is causing this health benefit is still being researched but the connection is being found to be true. A doctor from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the U.S. hopes this will change the view of coffee as something that is part of an unhealthy lifestyle.

What's the Smartest Thing to Do After Coffee?

Everyone loves to have a morning cup of coffee, especially when it only takes a few seconds to brew like single cup coffee. However, what is the best thing to do after you finish that morning cup of joe? Well, some people like to write, exercise, and some are forced to head to the good ol' job.

According to a study in Health (magazine), it was reported that coffee can help your body with pre-workout. It was shown to improve your circulation, reduce pain, and improve muscle memory (and your brain memory). It has also been said to help with burning calories/fat.

Not much of an exercise fan? Maybe you'd rather nap. Coffee clears your body of adenosine, a chemical. This chemical collects while you are awake and eventually tells your brain to sleep. During your sleep, this chemical breaks down. Coffee decreases this chemical in the brain but it takes about 20 minutes to complete. So, if you finish your coffee, have a 15 minute nap and feel the peak of alertness.

Maybe you want to do some art! Great idea, Picasso. Coffee helps with your focus and attention, which helps you create more fresh ideas.

Now, feel free to go workout, sleep, or finish some art. If you are looking for a quick and easy place to buy coffee K-Cups, then shop Coffeevines! We also have a vast assortment of K-Cup tea.

Coffee Has Been Tied to Lower Risk of Diabetes

Enjoy that java? Good, it turns out that coffee has been linked to lowering the chances of developing Type-2 Diabetes; also, as it turns out, cutting down on your coffee consumption can even increase your chances of developing Diabetes, as new studies report.

Over the course of 20 years, researches collected extensive information about diets, lifestyles, and medical conditions for more than 120k individuals; the discovered 7,269 individuals with Type-2 Diabetes.

Upon controlling factors such as smoking, age, weight, physical activity, alcohol consumption, and any family histories of diabetes, researchers realized that people who had increased their consumption of coffee by more than one eight-ounce cup of coffee a day (during a four year frame) had lowered their risk of diabetes by 11 percent. Individuals who decreased their coffee intake by the same amount had increased their chances of diabetes by 17 percent.

The thing is that the researchers found it was not the caffeine that was the trick; see, coffee actually has a lot of antioxidants as well as bioactive compounds in it; both antioxidants and bioactive compounds are good for glucose metabolism, which is what is affected with diabetes.

With all this being said, coffee is not a magical elixir that will cure everything; you still need to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle.
