Gluten Free Diet But Still Want Coffee?

It can be a little difficult to find products that you love and actually want to eat and drink while on a gluten-free diet. Yes, there are many "gluten-free" items on store shelves these days but many companies are still trying to figure out how to make their products tasty.

Green Mountain coffee has made their coffee a certain way and they've done it that way for a long time. You can count on Green Mountain Half-Caff coffee K-Cups being both delicious and gluten-free.

People who need to be on a gluten-free diet understand the frustration of giving up favorite foods and drinks or at least the quality they used to love. With coffee from Coffeevines and Green Mountain, coffee doesn't have to be something that you "used to drink" before going gluten-free.

8 Fun & Festive Twists on Coffee

Coffee is already an amazing thing but who is to say that you can't make a great thing better? I say you can! In the spirit of it being cold out now and holidays coming up, here are 8 ways to make your coffee a bit more delightful.

  1. Caramel. Using some of the caramel ice cream topping in your fridge will work wonderfully for this. If you are more of a purist, you can melt down some caramel and mix it in.
  2. Vanilla. Mixing in some vanilla extract or some vanilla coffee creamer makes coffee taste like heaven.
  3. Cinnamon. If you use ground cinnamon, then add in a teaspoon of it; if you want to be a bit more adventurous, then use a cinnamon stick to stir your coffee. This is a common thing to do in Spain and some South American countries. Very good.
  4. Ice cream. Mix in whatever kind of ice cream you want but I tend to stay with vanilla or chocolate. Make sure your coffee is hot enough to take the coldness of the ice cream and stay warm.
  5. Peppermint. Use a peppermint candy cane to stir your coffee, it tastes great and works wonderfully! It is cool, too, because you hear the candy cane crackle and melt due to the heat of the coffee.
  6. Chocolate. Make it mocha! I like to mix in some hot cocoa mix, chocolate chips, or break of pieces of a candy bar.
  7. Honey. A spoonful of honey gives it great flavor and texture. Who doesn't love honey?
  8. Marshmallow fluff. I was skeptical about this one but it gives great flavor and makes it a bit thick and creamy. Wow, so good.
Give these tips a try! You'd be surprised how delicious some can be, like the marshmallow fluff, who knew? Once you try them, let us know on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, or in the comments!

Which Professions Drink the Most Coffee?

Journalists and reporters consume more coffee than other industries, according to a recent study that studied the coffee habits of 10k people. Especially since the invention of the coffee K-Cup machine where coffee is made quickly.

Apparently, 85 percent of the participants stated that they consume at least three cups of coffee per day while another 70 percent believed their work quality would suffer if they went without their daily coffee.

It would seem that drinking coffee is a must for business professionals, states Pressat survey researchers, the group that conducted the study. Some of the professionals in PR, the industry that ranks 1st, consume as much as 6 cups of coffee per day. Those with stressful jobs/careers consume the most, which makes sense since PR is often ranked in the top 3 for stressful jobs.

After public relations, police officers come in 2nd, then teachers, plumbers and other trade professionals, nurses and doctors, company execs, telesales, IT support, retai
l, and drivers (truckers, limo, buses, etc).

One hypothesis includes the possibility that professionals are being overworked, overstretched and pushed beyond limits.

The recommended dosage of caffeine is 200 mg per day; this over consumption can lead to health concerns.

So if you need coffee to get through the day, make shopping for it less stressful and buy from Coffeevines- we will deliver right to your door with easy UPS shipping. Shop for brands like Starbucks, Green Mountain, Peet's, and more.

Fair Trade Coffee 101

What is Fair Trade Coffee? We see it listed everywhere; stores are boasting that they offer Fair Trade Coffee and make it seem super awesome. So what is it? Fair Trade is a program, entirely voluntary, that is used by coffee importers and food companies that want to create a side market for producers, often disadvantaged, small-scale farmers, in developing countries.

There are several components to being Fair Trade:

  • Purchasing of targeted coffee via organized farmer co-ops that are ensured to be democratic.
  • Commodity floor prices that are always agreed upon and ensured to be able to provide a dignified living for the farmers.
  • All exports by producers are direct.
  • Importers have to promise to make affordable credit available to the farmer co-ops.
  • A global structure of non-profit certifying association.
  • A fee that is paid by the importers and wholesalers to cover the cost of any certification.
  • A seal that assures consumers that the project was traded with all fairness.
When you purchase Fair Trade Coffee, you can rest easy knowing that you are helping coffee farmers develop pride, independence, and community empowerment; they can provide a real living for themselves and their families.

Purchase your Fair Trade Coffee from Coffeevines and spread the love!

2 Reasons Why K Cups Beat Ground Coffee

Almost every coffee lover battles with the argument about which style of coffee is better: k cup coffee or ground coffee that you brew through traditional drip methods.

However, here, we have provided two major reasons why k cups aka single cup coffee is better than ground coffee via drip method.

  1. K cups do not waste any coffee. When you brew your cup of coffee from a single cup coffee brewer, you are only making enough coffee for yourself, in an amount that you can easily consume in a responsible amount of time. It may sounds selfish to only make enough coffee for yourself but in reality, it is more responsible than making a whole pot of coffee. See, when you make a whole pot, the whole thing has to be consumed within a short amount of time or it goes cold; once the coffee in the pot goes cold, you either have to heat it up again (gross), or you have to pour it down the drain (sorry, wallet). All the coffee maker brews is one cup that is a good amount, it's not like it brews a gallon just for you.
    1. You also do not waste coffee because of how long the coffee in the k cups can last. See, when you have k cups, the coffee grounds in the cups is not exposed to air or anything else until you brew the coffee. When you use bags or cans of coffee, all the grounds are exposed to air each and every time you open the packaging to scoop some coffee out. Over time, the air that gets inside reduces the quality of the coffee.
  2. Variety. With K cups, you can store them on either a carousel or a drawer and even just stack the boxes neatly in your cupboard. If you want to have 20 varieties of coffee blends on your counter, you can easily do that with the small k cups and neat organizer; if you try that with coffee cans, you will run out of counter space quickly. The convenience factor is off the charts when it comes to single cup coffee. Another aspect of convenience is the fact that if you want a different coffee blend than someone else, you don't have to wait to brew another pot to satisfy their desires, you just pop in a new k cup.

2013 Coffee Trends

Every year, every month, every week, every day, down to every hour, coffee is being consumed by someone somewhere. Coffee is a universal drink that transcends culture, age, gender, and social class. Almost every person on the planet enjoys a cup of coffee (some daily and others now and then). But how much do people love coffee? How do all the statistics break down?

The American blue collar and white collar worker enjoys the java.
  • 43 percent of Americans in the work force declared that they are not nearly as productive in their jobs if they do not have at least one cup of coffee during the day. Most of that 43 percent reported drinking their cup of coffee in the morning hours.
  • During the work week, 63 percent of American workers stated that they drink two or more cups of coffee during work hours.
  • Between men and women, who drinks more coffee? Of all the men and women in the United States, 47 percent of women claimed that they need their coffee during work hours to stay productive; men only came in at 40 percent.
  • Despite coffee drinking being something that is loved across all generations, of the adults in the country, ages 18-34, 62 percent of adults from ages 18-24 stated they needed coffee while at work to remain productive; adults ages 25-34 only came in at 58 percent.
Of all the jobs in the country, which workers need the cup o' joe the most?

There are a lot of jobs in the country, some jobs are more strenuous than others and take a bigger physical toll on the body.

In the study, ten different professions were questioned and the results for who needs coffee the most were:
  1. Food service and preparation workers. So, waiters, chefs, cooks, busboys, caterers, etc. all consume the most coffee out of all employees in the country.
  2. Scientists. This one makes quite a bit of sense, after all, they do some very intelligent work and need the focus.
  3. Sales representatives. Maybe this is why so many salespeople talk so fast?
  4. Marketing and Public relations professionals. Being creative means having a sharp and, well, creative mind; these things are hard to do with a tired head.
  5. Nurses. Pulling those long, intense shifts and saving lives sure would tucker most people out. Let them have coffee, they keep us living.
  6. Editors, writers, and media personnel. Well, for some, reading is a relaxing activity and needing the caffeine could really do them some good.
  7. Business executives. Leading a business requires being on top of your game.
  8. Teachers (K-12). Teaching students can be mentally tiring since it requires patience, creativity, and endurance.
  9. Engineering techs. Dealing with all that complicated machinery and math can be a drain on the brain.
  10. IT professionals. Tinkering with computers requires a lot of focus.
Not only the hometown of Starbucks loves coffee but the whole country does too.

According to a 2013 study, the region of the country that drank the most coffee was not the northwest but rather the northeast; 64 percent of north easterners drink the stuff! Second place was awarded to southerners at 54 percent, and third place to both midwesterners and westerners at 51 percent.

Of course, coffee consumption varies depending on your likes and dislikes but it seems that anywhere you go in America, coffee is a favorite. In the past, traditional brew was the favorite but now k cup coffee has become a strong competitor as single cup coffee sales have tripled since 2011.

5 Health Benefits of Drinking Coffee

Coffee is definitely one of the most popular drinks in the entire world; the entire world drinks either coffee or tea, sometimes both. Over the last few decades, there have been numerous studies saying that coffee is bad for you, then numerous studies saying that coffee is good for you. So what is it? Good or bad? Well, the truth is, it can be both; it all depends on how much you drink. Like the age-old saying goes, "Everything in moderation." So, assuming you drink coffee in moderation, what are the health benefits of drinking coffee? Here are 5:

  1. Keeps your reproductive systems feeling good. For the gentlemen, it has been seen in studies done in 2011 that coffee helps lower the risk of prostate cancer. For the ladies, it can help lower the risk of endometrial cancer.
  2. Helps lower the risk of type 2 diabetes. A 2012 health study found that there is a compound in coffee that assists in blocking a substance in the body that is responsible for the development of diabetes; the substance is called islet amyloid polypeptide.
  3. Keeps the noodle strong. Noodle? You know, the nickname for the brain? Well in a recent medical study, it was found that coffee helps ward of dementia and Alzheimer's. Coffee has also shown in studies that it can help keep you happy by smelling it, assuming you like the smell.
  4. Helps keep the colon moving. After some surgeries, especially on the colon, the bowel movements can be a bit slow. Well, coffee has proven to stimulate this area and keep things running.
  5. Skin's friend. A cancer research journal published a study that mentioned how coffee has the antioxidants that help ward off perhaps the most common form of skin cancer, Basal Cell Carcinoma.
If you are a coffee lover, then enjoy that cup and know it has some health benefits; remember that moderation is also key. If you enjoy K-cup coffee and want to be able to purchase your favorite brands in K-cup form from anywhere in the country, then contact Coffeevines - an online coffee retailer and online coffee distributor of single cup coffee
